I haven't recorded a dream in a long while now and this one really stuck with me this morning.
Not sure how it started though, so I'll just begin with a background to give you a picture of where this dream took place. It was actually pretty short now that I think about it.
We were at one of my old houses, back when I was in junior high and a little bit of high school. I probably lived at this townhouse for about 5-6 years. I still remember that place pretty well. Upstairs bedrooms were occupied by my parents in the master bedroom, my grandma in another room, and my brother and I in the last room. Grandma, my brother, and I shared a common bathroom.
In the basement is where my sisters lived. We had to build an extra wall and an extra bathroom down there so they had a room. The walls were very flimsy though because they were just plywood sheets pretty much.
The dream now.
We have moved out of this years ago, probably more than a decade ago. For some reason, we were celebrating in this house. Celebrating what? I have no idea. However, it was nice to see the insides of this house again. It's virtually unchanged from the time we moved out.
Also for some unknown reason, Canadian Tire owned the house and allowed my family to use it as a place to celebrate. They even asked the renters to leave the premises so that we could use it. Afterall, CT owned the home. Strange.
The renters themselves were two different families. One was a married couple. The other were siblings. But two different ethnicities, two different cultures. Interesting.
As we were celebrating, we hear people shoveling outside on the driveway. It was winter and there was a snowstorm. So the families that occupied the home were doing some snow shoveling on the driveway.
They knock on the garage door that leads into the home. My father answers the door. They ask if they are able to come back into the home yet, and my dad politely tells them that the party is not over yet. So they leave for another unspecified amount of time and location.
Meanwhile, I'm exploring the house. I'm currently in the basement, recalling the different games that my brother and I had played down there in the hallway. As I was exploring, I notice that the top half of the walls that made up my sisters' rooms was missing. I take a peak. To my amazement, I see the room as my sisters have left it. It's intact. Nothing disturbed. They still have a lot of junk in there, but it's all covered in dust. It's not thick dust, which is surprising seeing that we haven't been there in the last decade or so, but it's a thin layer of dust. Thin enough that you can make out what it is and what the brand is.
Curiousness gets the best of me and I enter the room and take a look. I find a drill and I remember that I need one for my current room because I need to drive some starter holes into my closet door so I can put up some racks. So I decided that I would pack a few things up.
It was very weird that the room was intact. It was untouched all these years. It was like a tomb. I guess the current home owners had no use for the room in the basement and just left it as is.
Then I started to hear some kind of ringing, like a phone was ringing. But it wasn't the house phone at all, then I realized...
...that's when I had to wake up.
